Hacking CSS Viewer so it’s compatible with Firefox 3.5

So it looks like Firefox has taken the liberty to change some things around and thus the below won’t work for you anymore. So I’ve come up with a solution. Download CSS Viewer 1.0.3 here, unzip and drag the file into Firefox. That should work for you, if it doesn’t, mail me!
If you consider yourself a web developer and using Firefox, you probably are using CSS Viewer. Unfortunately CSS Viewer is not compatible with Firefox 3.5 and up. Luckily we have a solution that bypasses that problem. Follow these steps and you’re ready to go!

  1. Open up IE (I know, just trust me on this one) and open this link.
  2. Download CSS Viewer
  3. Open up the file you just downloaded and locate the install.rdf file. (I use Total Commander for file management, as this nifty piece of software allows you to edit individual files, so if you are using it, press F4).
  4. Locate this piece of code in the document <em:maxVersion>3.0.*</em:maxVersion> and change it to <em:maxVersion>3.5.*</em:maxVersion>
  5. Close and save.
  6. Now open up Firefox and drag the downloaded file into your browser. Voila! CSS Viewer will install! Follow the prompts and you’re good to go!

If you are experiencing any problems, please feel free to mail me!
